Metro Swim Shop ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you install and use the Advanced Product Importer Shopify application (the "App"). By installing and using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you install and use the App, we collect the following types of information:
A. Information from Shopify
To provide our services, we request access to certain information from your Shopify store via the Shopify API. This includes:
- Store Information: Your shop domain (e.g.,
your-store.myshopify.com).
- Product, Inventory and Sales Channel Data: We require read and write access to your products, variants, inventory, locations and sales channels (
read_products, write_products, read_inventory, write_inventory, read_locations, read_publications, write_publications, etc.) solely to create new products, add missing variants and update barcodes and images of existing products on your behalf, and to publish new products to the sales channels you choose.
B. Information You Provide Directly
- Spreadsheet Data: The product data in the XLSX files you upload (titles, SKUs, colors, sizes, barcodes, prices and similar product fields).
- Image Files: ZIP files of product images you upload, and product images downloaded from image links in your spreadsheet. Images are resized and optimised before they are attached to your Shopify products.
- App Settings: Your choices in the App, such as the inventory location, sales channels, column mappings, title words, the default description and sample "image not available" pictures used to recognise placeholder images.
Important Note on Customer Data: The Advanced Product Importer does not request, access, collect, or store any personal data belonging to your customers (e.g., names, emails, addresses, payment information).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information exclusively for the following purposes:
- To Provide the Service: To authenticate your store, process your uploaded spreadsheets and images, create and update products in your Shopify store, and give you a results file showing what happened to each row.
- To Support You: To troubleshoot errors you report and keep the App working reliably.
- To Communicate with You: To provide customer support or send important technical notices regarding the App.
3. Data Storage and Retention
- Authentication Tokens: We store your store's Shopify access token (which expires and is renewed automatically) in our database to make API requests on your behalf.
- Uploads and Results: Uploaded spreadsheets, image ZIP files, the rows read from them and their results are kept on our servers so that you can review an upload, pause and resume it, and download its results. They are deleted automatically 30 days after the upload was last used. You can delete an upload yourself at any time from the App's dashboard.
- Settings: Your App settings are kept for as long as the App is installed.
- Data Deletion: When you uninstall the App, your store's access tokens are deleted immediately. 48 hours later, when Shopify sends its data-deletion request, all remaining data for your store (uploads, files, results and settings) is permanently deleted.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party hosting or infrastructure providers who assist us in operating the App, subject to strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: If required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
5. Shopify Mandatory Compliance Webhooks
We comply with Shopify's data protection requirements and have implemented the following mandatory webhooks:
customers/data_request: We do not store customer data, so there is no customer data to provide.customers/redact: We do not store customer data, so there is no customer data to delete.shop/redact: 48 hours after you uninstall the App, we permanently delete all data we hold for your store.
6. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your data, including secure HTTPS connections, Shopify session-token verification on every request, HMAC signature verification for all incoming webhooks, short-lived access tokens, and storage folders that cannot be opened from the web. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
